FR — En 2004, à l’École nationale supérieure d’architecture de Nancy, naît la Semaine Architecture et Patrimoine consacrée à la création architecturale contemporaine dans l’existant, organisée en étroite collaboration avec les acteurs régionaux de l’architecture, du patrimoine et de l’urbanisme. Vingt années après sa création, le moment est venu de dresser un bilan des expériences menées au sein de cet enseignement et d’évaluer les acquis d’un dispositif pédagogique expérientiel. Mais au-delà de cette première visée rétrospective—illustrée par la série photographique réalisée à cette occasion par Ludmilla Cerveny—l’ambition de ce livre est de proposer une vision élargie et prospective des multiples enjeux liés aux patrimoines et à leur enseignement, appréhendés au travers d’entretiens de sept marraines et parrains architectes engagés en faveur d’une architecture située.

EN — In 2004, the École nationale supérieure d’architecture de Nancy launched the Semaine Architecture et Patrimoine [Architecture and Heritage Week], devoted to contemporary architectural design in existing buildings, organized in close collaboration with regional players in the fields of architecture, heritage and urban planning. Twenty years after its creation, the time has come to take stock of the experiments carried out as part of this teaching program, and to evaluate the achievements of an experiential teaching system. But beyond this initial retrospective—illustrated by the photographic series created for the occasion by Ludmilla Cerveny—the ambition of this book is to offer a broader, forward-looking vision of the many issues linked to heritage and its teaching, apprehended through interviews with seven architect godfathers and godmothers committed to a situated architecture.

FR—Née en 1988 à Épinal dans les Vosges, l’artiste et photographe Ludmilla Cerveny vit et travaille à Lunéville en région Grand Est. Après des études à l’École nationale supérieure d’architecture de Nancy, elle décide en 2012 de se consacrer à la photographie d’architecture et de paysage et d’exercer son activité de façon indépendante. Ses projets documentaires traitent des paysages en mutation, suburbains et ruraux, ainsi que sur les manières d’y habiter et de tisser des liens avec les territoires, tandis que ses projets plasticiens mettent en lumière des espaces imaginaires à habiter mentalement à travers un travail de maquette, d’imagerie de synthèse et de dessin. Son travail a fait l’objet de nombreuses expositions, notamment à Bordeaux (Arc-en-rêve), Nancy (Galerie My Monkey), Belfort (Galerie du Granit), ou encore Bruxelles (Galerie Le Maga, Librairie Nijinski). Outre un important travail d’autoédition, elle contribue également à des éditions indépendantes comme Talweg ou Gros Gris. Parallèlement, elle travaille régulièrement avec des architectes et des institutions pour produire des images diffusées dans la presse spécialisée et dans des expositions.
EN — Born in 1988 in Épinal in the Vosges, artist and photographer Ludmilla Cerveny lives and works in Lunéville in the Grand Est region of France. After studying at the École nationale supérieure d’architecture de Nancy, she decided in 2012 to devote herself to architectural and landscape photography and to work independently. Her documentary projects deal with changing suburban and rural landscapes, as well as with ways of living in them and weaving links with the territories, while her visual projects highlight imaginary spaces to be inhabited mentally through model work, computer-generated imagery and drawing. His work has been exhibited extensively, notably in Bordeaux (Arc-en-rêve), Nancy (Galerie My Monkey), Belfort (Galerie du Granit) and Brussels (Galerie Le Maga, Librairie Nijinski). In addition to her extensive self-publishing work, she also contributes to independent editions such as Talweg and Gros Gris. At the same time, she regularly works with architects and institutions to produce images for the specialized press and exhibitions.

FR — Building Paris est un studio de design graphique et de direction artistique fondé par Benoît Santiard et Guillaume Grall en 2012. Convaincus que le design doit avant tout se mettre au service d’un contenu, leur production est marquée par un goût prononcé pour l’évidence et veille à s’adapter à chaque contexte en portant un soin particulier au détail typographique. Dans la continuité de leur pratique, ils enseignent au sein du champ Représentation à l’École d’architecture de la ville & des territoires Paris-Est depuis 2008. Le studio travaille sur des projets d’édition, d’identité visuelle et d’exposition, aux sujets et aux échelles variés, où la contrainte (temporelle, économique, matérielle) est un élément moteur du processus créatif. Ils aiment citer Renaud Huberlant, graphiste et enseignant belge: «Générer du contenu ne peut se faire que si on comprend ce sur quoi on travaille. C’est une question de procédure, pas d’esthétique. Cela signifie: si les choses sont bien pensées, les formes seront bonnes.» Leur intérêt pour l’architecture les amène à collaborer régulièrement avec des architectes, des auteurs et des photographes.
EN — Building Paris is a graphic design and art direction studio founded by Benoît Santiard and Guillaume Grall in 2012. Convinced that design must above all serve content, their production is marked by a pronounced taste for the evidence and ensures that it is adapted to each context by focusing on typographic detail. In the continuity of their practice, they have been teaching in the Representation field at the École d'architecture de la ville & des territoires Paris-Est since 2008. The studio works on publishing, visual identity and exhibition projects, with various subjects and scales, where the constraint (temporal, economic, material) is a driving force in the creative process. They like to quote Renaud Huberlant, a Belgian graphic designer and teacher: “Generating content can only be done if you understand what you are working on. It's a question of procedure, not aesthetics. That means: if things are well thought out, the forms will be good.” Their interest in architecture leads them to collaborate regularly with architects, authors and photographers.
